Meet Your Maker: Jill Popowich Designs

Things that make me weak: dainty, feminine little things that make the perfect finishing touch to my look. Jill Popowich Designs does it for me.

About Jill
"Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved jewelry and was intrigued with designing and making it. I attended the Maryland Institute College of Art where I received a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration. Since 1994 I’ve been working as an Environmental Graphic Designer, having the opportunity to travel the world working on large scale retail environments designing signage, sculptures and architectural details. It is this large scale 3-D work that re-sparked my interest in jewelry design and the opportunity to build something that can be interacted with on a personal scale."

"All of the jewelry in my shop is handcrafted by me. Since each piece is hand made they will all vary taking on a personality of their own making each one unique and special."

What inspires you?
I get inspired by everything I see and experience. I’m always up for a challenge and enjoy trying new things and solving new problems. Check back often and see what I’m up to.

A wise philosophy:
"A cocktail ring displays best with a cocktail in hand."

Meet Your Maker: Lala's Pequeños

The designer. The mother. The name.
Mother of two very busy boys (7 and 8), Alessandra or “lala” as they call her, is the creative designer behind the lala’s Pequeños line.

A Noonie? Do tell!

Made from the softest fabric available, the Noonie™ was designed to create a perfectly cozy environment for your baby to be swaddled. Great for after bath lazing around or showing baby off in pictures.

Since it's launch, the Noonie™ line has been a hit with great response from new moms everywhere; it is a beautiful keepsake item that can be passed on for generations to come.

Why we love her
When she’s not fighting off evil empires or chasing frogs out of the house, her days are spent perfecting her designs for the little ones of the world. She is meticulous in her search for the perfect fabric and obsessed when it comes to softness. Lala also strongly believes it is essential to be environmentally conscious.

Why the Earth loves her
When she’s not in her studio, you’ll find lala traipsing through her other passion- a little rain forest called Rainmaker. She along with her family and business partners own a 1500 acre primary rain forest in Costa Rica.

In an effort to bring ecological awareness to the forefront, a portion of all proceeds from the Lala’s Pequeños line go to help preserve the Rainmaker Conservation Project.

Get your Noonie™ on at the Holiday Heist Craft Show!

Open Adoptions at Holiday Heist!

This year we are very excited to announce that, in addition to donating all proceeds from our raffle drawings to the Washington Humane Society, we have also invited them to bring some very lovable, very sweet dogs and puppies that need homes for an open adoption during the Holiday Heist!

If you have the room in your hearts and in your homes, please come by to meet some wonderful companions who are looking for their perfect match.

Washington Humane Society (WHS) is the only Congressionally-chartered animal welfare agency in the United States, and has been the area’s leading voice for animals since 1870. As the only open-access shelter in the Nation’s Capital, the Washington Humane Society provides comfort and care to over 30,000 animals each year through its broad range of programs and services including sheltering, adoption, spay and neuter, CatNiPP, humane law enforcement, lost and found, human–animal therapy programs and humane education.

WHS enforces all of the District's animal laws under an 1870 Congressional charter, and all animal control laws under contract with the DC government. WHS operates the only open-access shelter in Washington, DC; a private shelter on 7319 Georgia Avenue, NW, and the DC Shelter (under contract by the Department of Health) on 1201 New York Avenue, NE.

In addition to the two animal shelters, WHS operates a low-cost National Capital Area Spay & Neuter Center, on 1001 L Street, NE, located in the heart of Capitol Hill, a new animal training facility located on 7315 Georgia Avenue, NW, and the administrative offices, located on 4590 Macarthur Blvd. NW.

WHS has ninety dedicated employees, twenty-two distinguished members on the Board of Directors and more than three-hundred and fifty active volunteers; now, you have an opportunity to be a part of their good cause.

Adopt a friend, donate money or enter our raffle for some great prizes. Either way, you'll feel great and help a furry friend find a home.

Besitos,
Vanessa
