Report on Handmade Mart May 31

DC Craft Mafia members Mary of Herban Lifestyle, Regina of Bead Jewelry by ShopGirl & I (Erica Burns Designs) participated in the first ever Handmade Mart in downtown Silver Spring this past weekend. When I got there ( I was the first vendor there at 7 AM) the rain was just stopping. Kimberly Dorn was there to show me to our space. She was soaking wet from the early morning rain, but greeted me with enthusiasm & a smile! Debbie from 60 Bugs was also on hand. Debbie & a volunteer attempted to assist me with getting my tent up. It was a bit of a struggle, but we eventually got it up. There was no rain the entire day. That is always good news to an outdoor show. We did however, get some wind gusts, but it wasn't too awful. We were on the end of the street closer to Georgia Avenue, which seemed to have less wind then the tents in the center courtyard area. The show was very well organized. The volunteers were visible & came through often to see if any of the vendors needed help. Shout out to Virginia of De Nada Designs. Good to see you again! The shoppers were out, so that is always a good thing. I'd say there was a pretty even mixture of people that made the trip to Silver Spring for the show & people that happened to be in the area. There was live music including a band that looked like the average age was about 13! No joke!

Kimberly & Debbie said there would be a Holiday Handmade Mart in December, so be on the look out for that!
